
Søren Olsen is a theatre designer, director, and educator with fifteen years of experience spanning professional, community, and nonprofit organizations. Whether collectively creating, designing, or crossing disciplinary paths, his work is consistently elegant, simple, and entertaining. He excels at designing fresh environments for performance including theatre, dance, and related events. His work has been featured in Live Design Magazine and honored by the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from Insight Into Diversity Magazine. He has produced work in collaboration with notable performance makers including Robert Wilson, Chris Akerlind, Rinde Eckert, Martha Clarke, Jen Silverman, Kevin Artigue, Tony Meneses, BRKFST Dance Company, STRONG Movement, and Morgan Thorson, and with notable theatre institutions including Dell’Arte International, Theatre Latte Da, Stages Theatre Company, The Soap Factory, and Trollwood Performing Arts. He holds an MFA in Directing, Lighting, and Media Design from the University of Iowa and carries his rare multidisciplinary fluency across the full arc of production in the belief that the most exciting work happens in conversation across disciplines.
