Artist Statement

This piece explores humility in the face of a mystery/discovery. Looking at the human impulses to discover and immediately utilize. Decto challenges this impulse with the instinct to discover and wait. What fruits will ripen when we don’t discover things through the mindset of ownership but through a mindset of relationship? What part do hierarchy and indoctrination play in the experience of being frozen with awe?

SYNOPSIS

Decto is a quiet and humble worker for a massive industrial project that has found energy deposits buried deep beneath the earth’s surface. Rumors arise that these energy deposits may actually be the buried remains of previous gods. On a routine descent into one of the digging sites, Decto is frightened by a disembodied voice — that gives him superpowers. On a mission to preserve these ancient sites, Decto now must attempt to take down the evil forces of corporatocracy and greed to save our unknown origins.
