Artist Statement
At what point does work become a joke? The things we are tasked to do every day, is it significant? How would these workplace dramas, traumas, fights, and conflicts seem to an alien race? There’s something hilarious about how seriously we take ourselves.
Eggshell tries to draw out the absurd nature of colloquial reality by distorting common “workweek” archetypes. It unfolds over 2 days of being “on the job.” On the first day, everything is routine; on the second day, the routine is broken. This 2 act structure illustrates habit and spontaneity’s complementary nature and how both are equally silly and beautiful.
